The Seniors Club was established in 1975, and currently has over 600 members. It is a place where seniors come together and interact with each other and last but not least, have fun. The Club is open 5 days a week and offers a variety of different activities that one can enjoy. Woodcarving, table tennis, mini putt, darts, and crafts are few of the many activities that is offered to the people. Members of the club also enjoy bowling or golfing during the summer months.
Recently members of the seniors club got together to decorate some craft hearts that they then sold to a friend or a loved one, and donated the money collected to the Canadian Heart and Stroke foundation. Throughout the year, there is a craft table set up in the lounge where one can purchase items that the seniors have been working on. As spring is around the corner you will be able to purchase items in a theme of spring or Easter. Also, members who have worked hard and are still working on their knitting projects, have a chance to sell their masterpieces at their spring sale.
When asking Arlene Clemmens, President of the Bay Shore Seniors Club, what she liked most about this place and the area, she was quick to respond and said; “This is not only a place where seniors come together and have fun, but it is also a place where everyone sticks together and looks out for one another. This community has very nice people that are there for you when you need help with anything. This community and club is like a large family.”
The monthly newsletter for the club members lists all the weekly activities, members’ birthdays, and any special upcoming events for that month. Drop by today and see what all the fun is about, and who knows, you might become a Bay Shore Seniors Club member.
